Your participation helps provide the resources she needs while creating a community of love and support around her.

Travel with purpose, create lasting memories, and be part of something truly meaningful.

Together, we can make a difference – one incredible destination at a time.

WELCOME TO MY Spain FUNDRAISING TRIP

My name is Caitlin Tamte, and I’m so grateful to have you here.

For nearly seven years, I’ve been courageously battling Leukemia. After countless rounds of chemotherapy, I’ve recently learned that these treatments are no longer effective for me. However, there’s hope on the horizon—I’m just five weeks away from undergoing a life-saving bone marrow transplant at the University of Minnesota.

While I’m incredibly thankful to have found a donor, the road to recovery will be long and challenging. It involves 4-5 weeks in the hospital, followed by 100 days of intensive recovery with a 24/7 caregiver. Unfortunately, this means I won’t be able to work during this time.

That’s why this cruise means so much to me. My amazing cousin, Christian Tamte, has generously decided to donate the proceeds from this trip to help support me through this journey.

Your presence on this cruise is a gift, and I can’t thank you enough for your love, kindness, and support. Together, we’re making hope possible.

Enjoy the cruise, and thank you from the bottom of my heart!

and medical bills, and every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful impact.
Your generosity can help Caitlin on her path to healing.

F.A.Q.

WHAT TIME IS THE CHECK IN TO THE HOTEL?

Check in at your hotel will not be until 3pm at the earliest.

  • If you arrive early, or your room is not yet ready for you to check in when you arrive, you may be able to leave your bags with the front desk and they will keep them securely held behind the desk while you go out and eat or explore the city until your room is ready.

IS BREAKFAST INCLUDED?

Yes.

The serving times vary by hotel (they will tell you at check-in), but usually breakfast is served starting at 7am.

WHERE WILL I GO THROUGH CUSTOMS?

You will go through customs in the first Schengen country that you enter.

When you return to the USA you'll go through customs wherever your first point of entry is into the USA.

IS IT BETTER TO USE CASH OR CARD IN Spain?

Debit and credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, and many places also accept payment by phone, like Google Pay and Apple Pay. But it is still a good idea to have a bit of cash on you for small purchases. Foreign currency is rarely accepted, so you need Euros to get by.

SHOULD I EXCHANGE MONEY BEFORE I TRAVEL TO Spain?

Having some Euros on hand can be helpful.

Credit unions and banks will exchange your dollars into a foreign currency before and after your trip when you have a checking or savings account with them. (Just remember that when you return home, the banks will not accept any coins… only paper bills.)

You will need to order Euros from your bank at least 2-3 weeks prior to your departure.

banks and credit unions

If you need cash while you’re traveling, we recommend drawing some from an ATM once you've arrived in the foreign country.
Keep in mind, unless you’re using a prepaid multi-currency card like Revolut or a credit card with no foreign transaction fees, you could incur currency exchange fees.

WHAT IS THE TIPPING ETIQUETTE IN Spain?

Tipping in Spain is generally more modest compared to countries like the United States, and it’s not always expected. However, it’s appreciated for good service. Here’s a quick guide to tipping etiquette in Spain:

Restaurants

  • Casual Cafés or Bars: Tipping isn’t expected, but you can leave small change (coins) if you’re happy with the service—usually rounding up the bill.

  • Sit-Down Restaurants: For good service, leaving 5-10% of the bill is customary, but not obligatory. In upscale restaurants, tipping closer to 10% is more common.

Hotels

  • Porters: €1-2 per bag is a nice gesture.

  • Housekeeping: €1-2 per day, left in the room, is appreciated but not expected.

  • Concierge: If they go above and beyond (e.g., securing hard-to-get reservations), a tip of €5-10 is a kind gesture.

Taxis

  • Tipping isn’t required, but rounding up to the nearest euro or leaving an extra €1-2 for good service is common.

Tour Guides

  • For private or group tours, tipping €5-10 per person for a half-day tour or €10-20 per person for a full-day tour is a good rule of thumb.

Other Services

  • Hairdressers/Spas: A small tip of €1-2 or rounding up the bill is appreciated.

  • Delivery Drivers: Rounding up or giving €1-2 is a kind gesture.

General Tips

  • Tipping in cash is preferred, as it ensures the person providing the service receives it directly.

  • If service is included in the bill (look for “servicio incluido”), additional tipping is not necessary but still appreciated for exceptional service.

In Spain, tipping is seen as a token of appreciation rather than an obligation, so feel free to tip based on the quality of service and your own comfort level!

CAN I PAY BY ZELLE?

Yes!

We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).

Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go in to your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.

Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.

Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.

The Pros for using Zelle:

  • It is FREE (no processing fees)!

  • It is instantaneous (funds will go directly to Zone Travel- so this is the absolute fastest way to make a payment)

The Cons for using Zelle:

  • Every bank is different when it comes to maximum amount available to be transferred every day. So, this may mean that you need to make multiple payments to Zone Travel, multiple days in a row.

  • It does require an app download onto your phone, and you need to set up your account with your bank information.

CAN I PAY BY CHECK?

Yes!

If you would like to avoid the 4% credit card processing fees, you may pay by check.
It is very important that you pay in advance of the deadlines and allow ample time for delivery.

Payments received after the deadline could result in cancelation of your reservation or increased fees.

There are two ways to pay by check:

  • Mail the check

  • Deposit directly at a local branch
