Kinsey Puerto Rico Escape
November 17-24, 2026
A LITTLE LESS HURRY. A LITTLE MORE ISLAND.
Leave the everyday behind.
This is your invitation to slow down together: mornings over coffee, afternoons with your toes in the sand, and evenings shaped by good food and conversation. With a beachfront home base at Aïre de O:live and time to explore San Juan’s food, art, and culture, your week balances easygoing luxury with a sense of place.
There is room for colorful streets, a few new flavors, and perhaps a little salsa—but also plenty of room to do absolutely nothing.

Depart CMH
Welcome to your island escape
Your Puerto Rico getaway begins with an early departure from Columbus and a connection in Baltimore before arriving in San Juan at 1:30 p.m. An airport greeting and arrival transfer take the work out of getting to Aïre de O:live, where the rest of the day can unfold at your pace.
Settle in when your room is ready, breathe in the salt air, and let the week begin with a walk along the beach.
Optional add-on · Food tour. If you feel ready to explore, consider a food tour to introduce you to the island through its flavors. An afternoon or evening departure will fit your flight arrival and transfer times.
You can also save this experience for a free day if you would prefer a gentler arrival.

For a mother–daughter getaway, it offers room to unwind together while keeping a little celebration on the agenda. Venture out to discover San Juan’s food and culture, then return to a hotel where the evening still holds possibilities.

Nov 18:
Free Day
Suggested:
Coffee, rooftops & a delicious first chapter
After your included breakfast, ease into a day inspired by O:live Collection’s Culinary Chapter.
Make time for Puerto Rican coffee and a pastry at Café Cuatro Sombras, with unhurried wandering and time to soak up the atmosphere along the way.
Later, consider Dante Rooftop for a golden-hour cocktail or mocktail and a few small bites before dinner at Bardot.
For dinner, let the current menu guide you toward a seafood dish or a comforting pasta to share.
This is a day for lingering over good food and enjoying being away together, with plenty of room to change plans if the beach is calling.
Nov 19:
Free Day
Suggested:
A taste of Old San Juan
Today invites you into Old San Juan for a leisurely day of coffee, colorful streets, and memorable meals. Return to Café Cuatro Sombras if it has already become a favorite, or simply follow your curiosity through the old city before stopping at Barrachina for a piña colada or a refreshing alcohol-free option. Consider Verde Mesa for lunch, leaving time afterward to browse, wander, and enjoy the city without rushing from one stop to the next.
For a special evening, Marmalade is your suggested dinner destination, with a tasting-menu experience to make the night feel like an occasion. (Reserve ahead and share any dietary preferences when booking.)
The day’s dining suggestions draw on the hotel collection’s Culinary Chapter and can be adjusted around your appetite and energy.
Nov 20:
Free Day
Suggested:
Santurce culture & a little salsa
Trade the beach for a change of scene in Santurce, with time to explore its creative side, seek out art, and stop for a relaxed lunch. Keep the afternoon flexible so you can enjoy the neighborhood at a comfortable pace before returning to freshen up.
Optional add-on · Beginner salsa class with Gabby. Add a playful evening together with a beginner-focused introduction to salsa. The November 20 class time, meeting place, and availability will be confirmed before booking.
If you feel like extending the evening, explore Santurce’s LGBTQ+ nightlife or the atmosphere around La Placita. Possibilities on your list include Kweens Klub, SX The Club, Tía María Liquor Store, and Chueca; choose a venue after checking the current event schedule and whether the evening feels right for you. A cocktail and people-watching can be just as enjoyable as a late night dancing.
Nov 21:
Free Day
Suggested:
Beach time & coastal flavors
Start with breakfast and a blissfully slow morning by the beach at Aïre de O:live. Read, walk along the sand, or simply enjoy the pleasure of having nowhere urgent to be. When lunch calls, consider AWWA Raw Bar for ceviche and seafood, then keep the afternoon open for more time beside the water.
For dinner, venture into Santurce and choose between Vianda and Santaella for an evening centered on modern Puerto Rican cooking. This final Culinary Chapter suggestion balances a restful beach day with a memorable night out. Dining reservations and transportation are arranged separately.
Nov 22:
Free Day
A day entirely your own
Sleep in, linger over your included breakfast, and let the day take its own shape.
Stay close to the beach, revisit a favorite café, or head out for another taste of San Juan. If you would like to add an experience, today offers room to do so without making the week feel crowded.
There is just as much value in a long conversation, a good book, and another afternoon by the sea.
Nov 23:
Free Day
One more day to unwind
Your last full day is deliberately open, giving you time to enjoy whatever you have loved most.
Spend it by the water, pick up a few souvenirs, or return to a favorite corner of the city for one more coffee and something delicious.
As evening arrives, consider a farewell dinner together and a toast to a week of good food, island discoveries, and time for just the two of you. Pack at your leisure tonight so tomorrow feels easy.
Nov 24:
Departure
Until next time, Puerto Rico
Enjoy breakfast if service timing allows, then check out and make your own way to the airport by taxi or Uber.

F.A.Q.
WHAT TIME IS THE CHECK IN TO THE Hotel?
Check in at your accommodations will not be until 3pm at the earliest; however, if your room is ready when you arrive, you will be granted complimentary access
IS BREAKFAST INCLUDED?
Aire de O:Live includes breakfast with the reservation.
Fairmont El San Jose Hotel does not include breakfast.
What is the ocean temperature in November?
The ocean around San Juan averages a comfortable 83–84°F (28–29°C) in November—perfect for a refreshing swim without feeling chilly. No wetsuit is needed for a typical beach day; just check local beach conditions before entering the water.
What is the weather like in November?
Expect warm, humid weather that still feels like summer, with plenty of opportunities for beach time and outdoor exploring. November falls toward the end of the rainy season, so pack for sunshine and passing showers. A rainy forecast doesn’t necessarily mean an entire day indoors.
Is November still hurricane season?
Yes. Atlantic hurricane season continues through November 30. Keep plans flexible and monitor forecasts as your trip approaches; specific conditions cannot be predicted weeks in advance.
Can we swim in the ocean?
Yes, when conditions allow, but ocean conditions change daily. Isla Verde and Condado face the Atlantic, where waves and rip currents can make swimming dangerous even on sunny days. Follow beach flags, lifeguard instructions, and local advisories, and choose the hotel pool when conditions are unfavorable.
What should we pack?
Bring lightweight clothing, swimsuits, a cover-up, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent, and a compact umbrella or light rain jacket. Comfortable walking shoes with good grip are especially helpful on Old San Juan’s uneven cobblestones. Add a light layer for air-conditioned spaces and something polished for special dinners.
Do we need passports?
U.S. citizens traveling directly between the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico do not need passports. Adults should bring a REAL ID-compliant license or another TSA-accepted ID, such as a valid passport. If your route includes another country, different documentation requirements apply.
What currency is used?
Puerto Rico uses the U.S. dollar, so there is no need to exchange money. Bring a credit card and some small bills for tips and incidental purchases.
Do we need to speak Spanish?
Spanish and English are both official languages, and English is commonly spoken in hotels and visitor areas. A friendly “buenos días” or “gracias” is always a lovely way to connect.
Will our phones work?
Most major U.S. cellular plans include Puerto Rico, but check your particular plan before departure. You generally won’t need a separate international plan or eSIM if your existing coverage includes the island.
Do we need electrical adapters?
No adapters are normally needed for devices used on the U.S. mainland. Puerto Rico uses the same standard outlet types.
Do we need a rental car?
For a stay focused on Isla Verde, Condado, Santurce, and Old San Juan, taxis and Uber are practical options. You can explore Old San Juan on foot once you arrive. For excursions farther afield, arrange transportation with your tour or consider a rental car rather than relying on a return rideshare.
Are Isla Verde and Old San Juan within walking distance?
Plan to travel between them by vehicle. Isla Verde is your beach
CAN I PAY BY ZELLE?
Yes!
We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).
Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go into your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.
Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.
Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.
The Pros for using Zelle:
It is FREE (no processing fees)!
It is instantaneous (funds will go directly to Zone Travel- so this is the absolute fastest way to make a payment)
The Cons for using Zelle:
Every bank is different when it comes to maximum amount available to be transferred every day. So, this may mean that you need to make multiple payments to Zone Travel, multiple days in a row.
It does require an app download onto your phone, and you need to set up your account with your bank information.
Can I pay by check?
Yes!
If you would like to avoid the 4% processing fee, you may pay by check. You can drop this off at a Chase bank near you, or mail this overnight to us (with tracking information).
