Colorado River Float
6:30a-7:30p- Grand Canyon Coach and River Tour
Today you’ll explore the Grand Canyon in a way most visitors can only imagine - from the bottom!
This guided smooth water rafting excursion floats you up 15.5 miles of the Colorado River through Glen Canyon as well as around the elusive Horseshoe Bend.
Your adventure begins early in the day with ground transportation from Grand Canyon Airlines terminal (just 30 min north of your resort).
Enjoy a 3.5-hour journey through striking Painted Desert scenery through the Navajo reservation lands before reaching Page, Arizona - the starting point of your Glen Canyon adventure! You'll even have sights of the canyon's Eastern Rim along the way.
At the base of Glen Canyon Dam, you'll board a motorized raft designed to comfortably seat 32 passengers then your journey between the ancient canyon walls will set off!
Each passenger will receive a light box lunch to enjoy at any point during the float.
Midway through the trip, your raft will make a brief stop along the river bank. Passengers will disembark the raft for a short hike to the site of petroglyphs left behind by ancient canyon inhabitants. Your river guide can interpret and explain these petroglyphs and offer more information about the early humans that roamed the canyon floor thousands of years ago.
The highlight of your excursion will surely be drifting around the circular twist in the Colorado River known around the world as Horseshoe Bend.
Your rafting tour will reach its end at the historic Lee's Ferry, where your ground transport will be waiting to transfer you back to the Grand Canyon area.
Your return trip will feature sights of the Navajo Nation as well as a stop at the notable Cameron Trading Post. You'll return to the Grand Canyon Airlines terminal after this thrilling daylong adventure.
Tour Duration: Approximately 12.5 hours

Williams is just 45 minutes south of your glamping site. This quaint town is home to the Grand Canyon Wine Co. and the Wagon Wheel Winery!

Both towns offer some unique sights and tasty treats.
May 11:
Depart for Home
Your journey comes to an end (for now) as you drive back to Phoenix today, return your rental car to the Phoenix airport terminal and board your departure flight home.
The drive is about 3-4 hours, so we recommend an afternoon or evening flight, just to make sure you have enough time to return the car and get through security.

F.A.Q.
Will we be able to see the stars?
More than you will at home!
While the weather will play a major role in deciding whether or not you’ll be able to see the stars, the good news is that you’ll be staying in an International Dark Sky Park!
Your stay at Under Canvas coincides with the full moon. This means that the moon will be at it’s brightest and some stars may not be as visible as they would during a new moon phase.
What is an International Dark Sky Park?
Due to low amounts of light pollution in these designated dark-sky areas, you’re able to witness an all-natural light show unlike anything seen in the city—and you don’t even need a telescope! You’ll observe billions of bright stars and constellations, normally unseen by the naked eye.
You’ll have unlimited opportunities to spot star clouds, meteor showers, and even planets like Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars.
Is breakfast included?
No.
Under Canvas Grand Canyon does not include breakfast, but they have a restaurant onsite.
What are the differences between the tent types?
Here’s a link to the Under Canvas website with pictures and descriptions of each tent: https://www.undercanvas.com/tents/
During your stay, the most affordable tent is the Safari tent, and so, to help on costs, this is what we have reserved for you.
Safari Tent:
Bedroom wing with king size bed and luxe linens
Lounge area with queen sofa-bed
Private bathroom with shower, sink and flushing toilet (not in the tent, but a short distance away)
Private deck with outdoor lounge chairs
Wood-burning stove with complimentary firewood
The Deluxe Tent is also available and offers a little more privacy, especially when it comes to the bathroom.
Deluxe Tent: (+$588)
The Deluxe Tent has a plush king size bed
A private ensuite bathroom with a shower, sink and flushing toilet.
Enjoy the night stars on your private deck before retreating into your upscale tent kept warm by a wood-burning stove.
Is there electricity in the glamping tents?
Just like camping, there are no outlets in the tent which means no mini fridge or coffee maker. However, there are battery powered fans & lanterns with USB plugs so you can charge at least 2 cell phones. If you need a powered battery for a CPAP or medical device just let us know in advance of your stay, so that we can request one. Powered batteries are available on a first come first served basis.
Are the tents air conditioned?
The tents do not have air conditioning. They do have USB fans and misting systems to help cool the tents a little.
Keep in mind that while the average temperature in the summer is in the mid to upper 80’s, the evening temps typically stay in the 60’s.
Can I pay by Zelle?
Yes!
We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).
Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go in to your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.
Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.
Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.
The Pros for using Zelle:
It is FREE (no processing fees)!
It is instantaneous (funds will go directly to Zone Travel- so this is the absolute fastest way to make a payment)
The Cons for using Zelle:
Every bank is different when it comes to maximum amount available to be transferred every day. So, this may mean that you need to make multiple payments to Zone Travel, multiple days in a row.
It does require an app download onto your phone, and you need to set up your account with your bank information.
Can I pay by check?
Yes!
If you would like to avoid the 4%processing fees, you may pay by check.
It is very important that you pay in advance of the deadlines and allow ample time for delivery.
You can make checks payable to “Zone Travel”
Please mail your checks (allowing 3-5 business days for delivery - PRIOR to deadline) to:
Zone Travel
PO Box 12052
Columbus, OH 43212
Payments received after the deadline could result in cancelation of your reservation or increased fees.
