Hotel Victoria is an exceptional combination of comfort, location, charm, and authentic Bavarian hospitality.
Perfectly situated at the entrance to Nuremberg’s historic Old Town, the hotel places us just steps from the famous Christkindlesmarkt, medieval streets, shopping areas, restaurants, and many of the city’s most iconic landmarks. During the Christmas season especially, the location simply cannot be beat — allowing us to easily wander through the glowing markets and festive atmosphere whenever we choose.
Beyond its ideal location, Hotel Victoria offers a warm, boutique-style atmosphere that feels welcoming and personal rather than large and impersonal. The property blends historic character with modern comfort, creating the perfect home base for our Bavarian Christmas adventure. Guests consistently praise the hotel’s cozy ambiance, beautifully maintained rooms, excellent service, and outstanding breakfast — an especially important detail before full days spent exploring Christmas markets and medieval towns throughout Bavaria.
Another reason we selected Hotel Victoria for our stay is the overall experience it creates for this style of journey. Rather than simply staying somewhere functional, this hotel helps immerse us in the atmosphere of Christmas in Germany. From stepping outside directly into the heart of Old Town to returning each evening to a comfortable and relaxing space after festive market visits and day trips, Hotel Victoria complements the magic and charm of this itinerary perfectly.
December 7:
Christkindles-markt
Today is our first full day immersed in the magic of Christmas in Bavaria as we experience the world-famous Christkindlesmarkt at our own pace.
Dating back centuries, this iconic market transforms the heart of Nuremberg into a glowing holiday wonderland filled with over 180 traditional wooden stalls, twinkling lights, handcrafted ornaments, wooden toys, gingerbread, roasted almonds, mulled wine, and the unmistakable warmth of the Christmas season.
From wandering the beautifully decorated medieval streets to relaxing in a cozy café with a warm drink in hand, today feels like stepping into a real-life holiday storybook.
The beauty of today is that it can be whatever you want it to be. You may choose to spend the day shopping and exploring the markets, or elevate the experience with one of our optional add-ons — from festive walking tours and culinary experiences to fascinating history tours or even a relaxing full-day escape to one of Bavaria’s premier thermal spas.
However we spend it, today is all about soaking in the atmosphere, traditions, and unforgettable charm that make Christmas in Bavaria unlike anywhere else in the world.
December 8:
Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Our Bavarian Christmas adventure continues as we journey deeper into the storybook magic of Bavaria as our private transfer takes us from Nuremberg to the breathtaking medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber — one of the most enchanting Christmas destinations in all of Germany.
Unlike many holiday markets set within modern cities, Rothenburg itself feels frozen in time, with centuries-old stone walls, half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and glowing lanterns creating the atmosphere of a real-life Christmas fairytale. Simply walking through the town during Advent feels magical.
At the heart of it all is the famous Reiterlesmarkt, one of Germany’s oldest and most atmospheric Christmas markets. Here, the medieval square is filled with handcrafted ornaments, festive music, candlelight, and cozy wooden stalls. The market is especially beloved for its traditional Franconian Christmas foods, authentic German holiday décor, and its connection to old folklore, including the mysterious “Reiterle” — a legendary Christmas figure unique to Rothenburg’s traditions.
What makes this destination so unforgettable is that the entire town becomes part of the experience — hidden alleyways, charming cafés, historic towers, bakeries, Christmas shops, and postcard-perfect views around nearly every corner.
The day is ours to explore at our own pace, whether shopping for holiday treasures, wandering the ancient streets, or simply soaking in the unforgettable atmosphere of Christmas in Bavaria.
For those looking to make the experience even more memorable, optional add-on experiences are available throughout the day, offering opportunities for guided walking tours, culinary experiences, history-focused visits, and more.
At the end of our magical visit, our private transfer will return us comfortably back to Nuremberg for the evening.
December 9:
Regensburg
Few places in Germany capture the magic of Christmas quite like the stunning UNESCO-listed city of Regensburg, one of Bavaria’s most beautiful and historically rich destinations. After breakfast, our private transfer will take us through the Bavarian countryside to this remarkably preserved medieval city along the Danube River.
With its ancient stone bridges, soaring cathedral towers, colorful historic buildings, and winding cobblestone streets, Regensburg feels elegant, authentic, and wonderfully timeless. Unlike some larger Christmas destinations, Regensburg offers a more refined and atmospheric holiday experience — one that feels deeply connected to history, tradition, and old-world European charm.
At Christmastime, the city becomes truly magical. While Regensburg has several wonderful holiday markets, the true centerpiece — and one of the reasons we specifically chose this destination — is the famous Romantic Christmas Market at Thurn and Taxis Palace.
Set within the courtyard of the spectacular Thurn and Taxis Palace, this market feels almost dreamlike, with glowing lanterns, crackling fire pits, horse-drawn carriages, live traditional music, artisan crafts, and beautifully decorated wooden stalls surrounded by palace architecture. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful and atmospheric Christmas markets in Germany, offering a more intimate and upscale feel compared to many larger markets throughout Bavaria.
The day is ours to enjoy at our own pace — whether exploring the historic city center, shopping the festive markets, relaxing in cozy cafés, or adding one of our optional experiences to deepen the day even further.
At the end of our magical visit, our private transfer will return us comfortably back to Nuremberg for the evening.
December 10:
Bamberg
This day invites us to slow down and savor the enchanting UNESCO-listed city of Bamberg, one of Bavaria’s most charming and underrated Christmas destinations.
After breakfast, our private transfer will take us to this beautifully preserved medieval city, famous for its winding alleyways, riverside architecture, historic breweries, and storybook atmosphere.
Built across seven hills and filled with centuries-old buildings, Bamberg feels intimate, romantic, and authentically Bavarian — especially during the Christmas season when the entire city glows with festive lights and holiday decorations.
At the heart of the celebration is Bamberg’s traditional Christmas market in Maximiliansplatz, where cozy wooden stalls overflow with handcrafted ornaments, festive décor, local artisan gifts, and the Franconian food specialties Bamberg is known for fill the crisp winter air.
What makes Bamberg especially unique at Christmastime is how naturally the city’s medieval atmosphere blends with the holiday season. Beyond the main market, visitors may discover smaller festive experiences throughout the city, including charming nativity displays, hidden holiday courtyards, and even medieval-inspired market traditions that feel wonderfully local and authentic.
Compared to some of Germany’s larger markets, Bamberg offers a more relaxed and immersive experience — the kind of place where simply wandering the streets becomes part of the magic.
The day is ours to explore at our own pace, whether shopping for holiday treasures, enjoying Bamberg’s famous beer culture and cozy cafés, or joining one of our optional add-on experiences to dive deeper into the city’s history, food, and traditions.
At the end of our festive day, our private transfer will return us comfortably back to Nuremberg for the evening.
December 11:
Free Day
Our final full day in Bavaria offers the perfect opportunity to soak in the magic of Christmas in Nuremberg once more before we return home.
Whether it’s revisiting the glowing Christkindlesmarkt for those last special gifts, lingering over a warm mug of glühwein, stepping into a cozy café as snow falls outside, or simply wandering the medieval streets one final time, today is about savoring the atmosphere that has made this journey so unforgettable.
There’s something special about these final moments in Bavaria — when the lights, music, and festive energy seem even more magical knowing it’s our last chance to experience them.
For those wanting to explore more deeply, today also offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy one of our optional add-on experiences or discover the city at our own pace.
History lovers may wish to visit the magnificent Nuremberg Castle, perched high above the city with panoramic views over the rooftops and Christmas markets below.
Art enthusiasts can step into the world of Renaissance master Albrecht Dürer at his beautifully preserved former home, while those interested in modern history may choose to visit the thought-provoking Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds to better understand the city’s complex past.
Others may simply choose to slow down, shop for handcrafted ornaments and local specialties, or spend one last leisurely afternoon enjoying the festive beauty of Bavaria.
However we choose to spend it, today is our final chance to fully embrace the warmth, charm, and holiday spirit that make Christmas in Germany such a magical and unforgettable experience.
December 12:
Depart
Today our magical Christmas journey through Bavaria comes to a close as we say goodbye to the festive markets, medieval towns, glowing lights, cozy cafés, and unforgettable holiday atmosphere that made this trip so special.
After breakfast, our private driver will meet us at the hotel and transfer us comfortably to the airport as we begin our journey home to the United States.
As we depart Nuremberg, we take with us more than just souvenirs and Christmas gifts — we leave with memories of storybook streets, centuries-old traditions, warm mugs of glühwein, twinkling market lights, and the unmistakable magic of Christmas in Bavaria.
We hope this journey leaves us all inspired, refreshed, and filled with the spirit of the season long after we return home.

Comfortable walking shoes are essential, as you’ll be exploring on foot and navigating cobblestone streets in Nuremberg. CAN I PAY BY ZELLE?
Yes!
We started taking Zelle payments last month and we found this to be a fast and FREE way to pay!
For those who don’t know what Zelle is… it is very much like a wire transfer (but it is not a wire transfer).
Everyone’s bank is different, though, so you may want to call/go into your local bank and ask to have the maximum amount available to transfer every day.
Example: Some banks only allow $500/day transfer. Other banks will allow $1200/day.
Always be careful when making payments through Zelle to people that you do not know. There is no protection guarantee provided and you cannot reverse the fee.
The Pros for using Zelle:
It is FREE (no processing fees)!
